Interview Questions and Answers

Getting straight to the point, a job interview really only  consist of interview questions and answers. The job interview will first start off with general interview questions and steadily work towards more complex questions.

Interview answers can make or break your chances of getting hired. Job candidates need to be prepared to answer all sorts of interview questions, both easy and hard ones. Being prepared will make it easier to answer general interview questions and more comfortable answering more difficult questions.

Job Interviews are not meant to be easy. The way you answer job interview questions will show how you will handle yourself in the workplace with stress and other pressures to the interviewer. Most of the time interview questions will seem clear cut and to the point. However, the idea is to be able to back up your answers with real world experiences. Here is a sample list of interview questions and sample answers taken from my book, The Superstar Interview Guide.

1)Tell me about yourself.

Okay, you meet the interviewer and you made some small talk with them. It’s been my experience that the first question that an interviewer asks will be: “Tell me about yourself.” The way you should prepare for this question is to have a personal branding statement already memorized. A personal branding statement shows who you are, what strengths you as a person bring to this position, and what benefits your previous employer(s) have gained because of your employment. Here is an example of a personal branding statement

Example Answer: I am a seasoned marketing expert in property retail management, strong in driving traffic to mall retail centers through effective media buying and event planning.

2)Tell me about your biggest weakness.

Of course you don’t want to answer this question. Why answer a question that reflects
negatively on you? To answer a question like this you’ll have to use this simple strategy: Turn a negative into a positive.

Example Answer: I always had a hard time using Microsoft Excel. I decided that the wayto fix this problem was to take some courses on Microsoft Excel. Within 4 months of training, I had become very good at using Microsoft Excel and even became the office “expert” on the matter.

3)What motivates you to be successful?

This question is normally asked to see how driven you are to be successful for the

position that you are interviewing for. There no correct or incorrect answers. Obviously,in order to answer this question, you need to first write down what motivates you professionally and think of some examples that display these attributes.

Example Answer:
What really motivates me is to see the strategies that I develop implemented by mycompany.

4) Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

The interviewer wants to know about your career goals. He or she wants to see if you are
driven or maybe even loyal. You’ll want to connect your answer for the position that you are interviewing for.

Example Answer: I see myself in a managerial position that supervises employees

develops their skills.
