Hello Amy. This is an interview question that is probably one of the most feared among job seekers.  It’s hard enough that you had a bad experience with a previous employer, but now you have to talk about it in an interview situation. The best way to deal with this question is to discuss what actions you took to overcome this problem with yourself. Make sure you talk about what you learned from the situation and how you are better for it. Make sure to write out your interview answer and practice answering it, which will help you memorize the answer for interviews. Here is an example interview answer for your question.

Example Answer: “I had a hard time finding a job right out college and I took the copyrighter position that was offered to me without really understanding the responsibilities for the position. I know now that I won’t make that same mistake ever again. I know that I am better working in a position that lets me use my creative writing skills than just being a regular copy writer.”
