Management Interview questions are very closely related to generic interview questions, with the expectation of some of the interview questions being geared toward managerial experiences.

Commonly ask management interview questions are used to discover competencies that include leadership skills, instructional leadership, resource management & allocation, staff management, program supervising & reporting, professional development implementation, community teamwork and more.

Here is a sample of
management interview questions you can expect to see in your next managerial job interview.

1) What is your management style? There two ways you can go about answering this question. You can provide a technical answer, which includes choosing one of the six managerial styles or you can exam the current management style of the potential employer and provide an answer that bests suits you and the potential employer.

Example Answer: “My main goal in my past managerial positions was to have the most qualified people in the right positions to meet our company’s objectives. I believe in an open door policy just doesn’t apply with myself, but with all staff members. Two heads are always better than one and for a company to succeed truly everyone needs to be on the same page.”

2) What is the most challenging part about being a manager? When answering this question provides specific examples of the most challenging part and discuss how you address it and the solution you develop to combat the challenge.

3) What motivates you to be successful? This question allows the interviewer to learn how motivated you are to be successful if selected for the position. Write down what drives you professionally and think of some examples that show those traits. Try to think of the management culture of the company and tailor your answer toward it as well.

Example Answer: "What really motivates me is achieving my divisional quarterly goals through tactics that I carried out with my staff."

4) Have you ever had time that you didn’t agree with a supervisor? How did you resolve the conflict? When you answer this question, make sure you don’t reveal to the interviewer that you hold a grudge against your former supervisor. You want to keep everything positive as can be with an interview. Never say anything bad about your former employer

5) Do you have what it takes to lead a company in a top managerial position? This is a great question for you. It provides you the opportunity to showcase your accomplishments and leadership qualities that will help you succeed in a top level management position.

6)  What are your long-term goals? The interviewer wants to know if you plan to stay with the potential employer for an extend period of time. Changes in management take time for staff members to adjust. This will be a clear indicator to the interviewer whether you tend to be a loyal and driven manager.

Example Answer: "I would like to see myself in a position that oversees a regional division of the company."
