Here is Christine’s Question:
Have you ever had a time where you didn’t agree with your manager? Was the conflict resolved?
James’s Answer:
I know this interview question is a bit tricky to answer. The job interviewer wants to know if you are the type of person to hold grudges against your former employer. Often, if a person can’t agree on an issue and they are unable to get over it, the person becomes difficult to work with. The key here is to be positive when giving answer about the situation and with your former boss. Discuss how you handled the situation and what the end result was. Never say anything bad about your former boss.
Example Answer: "My past supervisor and I had a good relationship, although I didn’t agree with my supervisor’s decision to increase services cost to client by 30% without adding additional value to our services. A lot of the co workers were upset about the matter and felt that we would lose customers. I scheduled a meeting with my supervisor to address the issue. He explained that costs are increasing across all divisions and that we had to keep up with the trend. I asked him if we were able to provide any additional services items to validate the cost increase. He explained that we wouldn’t. He did say that we could take away unnecessary existing services items from our existing services packages. Therefore our clients wouldn’t have an increase in services costs, but our company would still experience an increase because of certain service items being taken away. Everybody in the office felt much better about the situation.”
